In 2003-04, Finstar acted as development manager for the redevelopment of Waitakere Plaza on behalf of Urbus Properties Ltd.
The $14 million construction project involved transforming the plaza from a 19,000m2 neighbourhood centre into a bulk retail format centre.
Finstar’s role included overseeing the preliminary design, feasibility analysis and obtaining resource management consent. Finstar acted as the development manager through to the developed design stage, which included negotiating the price of the construction contract. At that point, the project was able to be completed in-house, and the redevelopment – as envisaged by Finstar – was finished in 2006.
